Photo Tricks: Taking Great School Portraits

by Maggie Holmes

Want to scrapbook great school photos of your kids? Sending your kids to school on picture day can feel a lot like entering the lottery. You never know if what will come back will be a winning shot or not. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you take amazing school portraits you'll be excited to scrapbook!

Tip #1: Loosen Your Kids Up

You'll get far better smiles out of them that way! Help your child relax by talking to and interacting with him during the photo shoot. The most natural smiles come right after you've had them laughing at something silly.

Tip # 2: Choose Something Colorful for Him to Wear

Picking a colorful shirt can help make your child's eyes pop while also adding color and texture to his or her portrait. Just remember, if you're picking a shirt with a busy pattern, make sure your backdrop is fairly neutral so the shirt and the background don't clash.
