CK Sketches: July/August 2010

by Jennafer Martin

CK July-August scrapbook sketch

The Creating Keepsakes July/August 2010 issue's scrapbooking sketch has a simple, compact structure to unite its elements and help you scrapbook your memories quickly. Bookended by a title on one side and an arrow on the other, the main design of this sketch will direct attention to your photos, letting them shine. Try using it to scrapbook your summer activities, patriotic events, or everyday routines to add sparkling pages to your scrapbooks.

Grandville scrapbook layout by Cindy Tobey

Grandville by Cindy Tobey. Supplies: Patterned paper: BasicGrey, Fancy Pants Designs, Jenni Bowlin Studio, October Afternoon, and Scenic Route; Stickers: AdornIt-Carolee's Creations, American Crafts, and Creative Imaginations; Rub-ons: American Crafts; Die cut: October Afternoon; Chipboard: Maya Road; Ribbon: Little Yellow Bicycle; Twine: Martha Stewart Crafts; Paint: Making Memories; Ink: Clearsnap; Fabric stiffener: Beacon Adhesives; Marker: Sakura; Font: Estrangelo Edessa; Adhesive: Glue Dots International, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, and Tombow; Other: Charm and thread .

Design Tip: Switch Up Straight Lines

Although the sketch technically calls for straight lines in its borders and accents, don't be afraid to switch things up a bit. Follow Cindy Tobey's lead to create a zigzag edge, angle your arrow element, or even curl the end of your ribbon to add visual interest and dimension to your layout.

Wrong size PSD template
The PSD template is 34" x 22", not the conventional 24 x 12 size.
template doesn't work
I'm a digital scrapper and I was very excited to download this, but when I imported my photo it turned it black and white. Also, the size seems off.
