Project 365 Photo-a-Day Challenge

by Beth Opel

Don’t you just love it when you receive flowers or a card or a sweet e-mail message “just because”? Sometimes the best things in life are those that come out of the blue, unexpectedly, for no particular reason. The same is true with photographs! One of the photos on my desk was taken on a random day, but it’s exactly how I envision my nephews when I think of them—in everyday sweatshirts, with a rosy, outdoor, active boy glow.

To begin the new year, we challenge you to capture those wonderful ordinary moments and objects that make up your world. Take the “Project 365” challenge and photograph at least one picture every day for a month. You’ll discover that loads of photo-worthy subjects are right in front of you. Here at Creating Keepsakes, a few of our team members took on the challenge. In the coming weeks, we’ll show you a sampling of our results. Enjoy! Oh, and if you want an easy way to store/scrapbook all your photos, check out this Project 365 Kit created by Becky Higgins.

WEEK ONE: Britney Mellen’s Photos

Monday
One of my son Creed’s favorite games lately is “jumping people.” Creed’s toy “people” like to jump off high things. Like the piano.

Tuesday
After playing in the snow, Creed came inside and removed all of his snow clothing except his mittens. He likes to wear them while playing with his “computer.”

Wednesday
This morning at breakfast, the evil Zurg was attacking Buzz Lightyear as well as the fruit basket.

Thursday
There’s nothing like snuggling up in bed watching a movie. This morning we watched Wall-E while we ate our waffles.

Friday
I try to tidy the house each day while Creed naps, and it’s rare to not find at least three or four sippy cups throughout the house. He stashes them everywhere!

Saturday
This photo will forever remind me of the first thing Creed says when we walk in the door: “Pants off! Pants off!”

Sunday
A typical sight around the house. A pileup of cars and a half-eaten snack.
