Month by Month: February

Amanda Probst

BE PASSIONATE. I’m not just talking about the lovey-dovey, “love letters and kisses” kind of love, folks. Let’s talk about things you’re really passionate about! What makes you all warm and fuzzy inside? For me, this can be as simple as a new pair of shoes or as complex as words declaring devotion.

Now, I’ll bet you’ve scrapbooked plenty of layouts about the people you love. This February, though, let’s explore love in different ways. In this layout from my new book, for example, I tell the story of the bedtime “words” that give my sons the security to go to sleep. Do you have special words that express your love and are a part of your daily routine?

Other than words, here are three more ideas to consider this February:

1. Scrapbook something (or a list of things) that you love about yourself. What do you think you’ve got going for yourself? Think beyond things like “good hair” (though that’s obviously awesome to have) to the things you’re passionate about—the things that make you “you.”

2. February, appropriately enough, is American Heart Month. Do your heart some good and go for a walk today. Don’t forget to take your camera and keep an eye out for things you love!

3. Raise your hand if you hang onto empty chocolate boxes just to smell them. Oh. It’s just me? Well, this year, I found another use for those quickly emptied chocolate boxes. I’m using mine to sort buttons and brads by color. I love that I can still smell the chocolate wonderfulness while digging through my embellishments.

It’s challenge time again! This month, I challenge you to create a layout about special words in your life. Join in and you’ll have the opportunity to win a copy of my new book, Month by Month Scrapbooking! Find out more at my Month by Month Scrapbooking group.

Also, here are five sketches from the layout above to help get your creativity going on your layouts this month.
