#2: Take (and hang) a Note

Camp is a busy place. There are places to go and campers to see. Keep track of all you have going on with an easy-to-make memo board.

Fabric Memo Board by Megan Hoeppner. Supplies Fabric: BasicGrey; Cork: IKEA; Ribbon: American Crafts; Button: Creative Imaginations; Thread: Martha Stewart Crafts; Adhesive: Therm-O-Web; Other: Staple gun.

Here's how to make one in minutes:

1. Cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than the circumference of the cork. Note: The cork I used is actually a cork circle I picked up at IKEA.

2. Wrap the fabric around the cork and use a staple gun to secure it in place.

3. Adhere ribbon around the edge of the board and hang it in place.

Warning: Falling in love with fabric is easy to do, especially when some of your favorite scrapbook companies have turned their beautiful patterned paper into equally wonderful fabric. (The fabric I've used is from the BasicGrey "Sultry" collection. Yum!) I'm happy to report, however, that small swatches of fabric known as "fat quarters" (a quarter of a yard) can be purchased for only a couple of dollars, so at least it's a relatively affordable addiction. ;)

creative frames

Thanks for the tips. The only layouts I've framed are a matching set; one frame holds a layout with a photo of my husband and I on our wedding day; the other holds a layout with a photo of my parents and then another photo of his parents on their wedding days! I love how they turned out! They hang in my dining room.

Pen Cups

I got that cute pen-cup shelf from Pottery Barn several years ago. I'm not sure if they still sell it or not. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and be sure to let you know if I happen upon anything similar downt the road. Thanks for the comments, all. I have four boys and I've taken a picutre of each of them in a hooded towel around 6 months or so. They are in blk&wht, so I'll give it a go! Can't wait!

Pen cups

I love the pictures too, but what caught my eye in the last photo was the cute shelf with glass cups that hold your pens and scissors.. Where did you get those? They look awesome for any scrap room!

Cork rounds

The cork rounds are for setting planters on (or hot cooking pots) so try a garden section at a home improvement store, or maybe walmart/target in the kitchen stuff area?

Oh my, I LOVE the fabric memo board idea. I run a girls club and we are going on a day camp in September and I am thinking of really doing this craft with them. I have to find the cork though and the nearest Ikea is a whole hour away. Anbody know another store that might carry these round corks?
