More Houndstooth Inspiration - A Hot Spot Online Bonus |
Sophisticated houndstooth prints are hot this season! Watch for them on jackets, blouses, purses and more. This print is traditionally black and white, but it can also be found in white plus another color or black plus another color. Two or three sizes of this print are often pieced together for an edgy look. You may also see it “digitized” for a youthful twist on this trend. Take a look at the following page, then use a houndstooth print on your next page!
Umm, What!? by Tiffany Tillman. Supplies Cardstock: Prism Paper; Patterned paper: My Mind’s Eye; Journaling paper: Making Memories; Chipboard letters and houndstooth ribbon: American Crafts; Font: Georgia.
In the “Hot Spot” column in our April 2009 issue, we shared the new look of houndstooth on scrapbook pages. Here are a few more inspiration items featuring houndstooth.
When Trends Collide!
Combine two trends for a fun, creative experiment. This shirt combines the houndstooth print with ruffles for an ultracool look!
Try it! Who says ruffles need to be plain or lacy? Create a ruffle trim for your layout using a bold pattern.
Tip for Bold Patterns
Bold prints can be scary to wear . . . or to use on scrapbook pages! So, take the easy way out and use them (or wear them!) as accents on an otherwise “safe” page (or outfit). Get a great look by using them to punch up a linear, monochromatic page.
