For a lightweight DIY album with a lot of character, create your own binding using basic stitching. Instead of bulky items like chipboard, use transparencies, vellum, and envelopes to keep your stitched binding as thin as possible.

Create Your Own
Pierce four holes evenly along boarder of album; leave a 3/4² gap between edge and holes.
Start stitching from the inside middle of the booklet and leave a small tail for the end knot. Follow number path.
Finish number path; last stitch should be in the inside middle of booklet for extra strength. Tie a knot to complete.
