This issue's sketch has a playful arrangement of photos and boasts an ample amount of white space (the open areas on the layout that enhance your design). You'll love the flexibility of this sketch and how you can adjust the white space to suit your design needs as you customize this design for your own layouts.
Download our digital version of the January 2011 CK Sketch and use the layered PSD file to create a page using your favorite digital scrapbooking elements.
Use the Sketch: This spunky sketch features tilted photos on the upper-left corner of the layout that will give your layout a delightfully spontaneous feel. Use a single landscape photo across the bottom space like Erika Stanton did, or replace it with two 4" x 6" prints if you want to sneak in an extra photo.
Why the White Space Works: Notice how the brightly colored background on the right-hand page is acting as white space, which gives the right page enough visual weight to balance the busy left page.
