Creativity Heals: Personal Loss

by Dorathy Gilchrist

In each issue, Creating Keepsakes highlights how creativity can help you during difficult times. Brigid Gonzalez created this scrapbook layout to help her sister, Bernie, heal from the loss of her infant son, Luke.

Happy Birthday by Brigid Gonzalez, as seen in the February 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Brigid's layout commemorates the second anniversary of Luke's birth, celebrated at his grave. For Bernie, having the scrapbook layout helps her "to be able to look back on pictures of his party and see the smiling faces and the joy that his life brought to so many others." The layout reminds her of all the people she can share her grief with and who are there to support her.

If you've experienced a personal loss or are going through a difficult time, consider creating a layout about your family and friends who help and support you. This layout can be a source of comfort later.
