Creativity Heals

by Dorathy Gilchrist

During times of fear, stress, uncertainty, or loss, scrapbooking and creativity can play a substantial role in the healing process. Throughout 2010, Creating Keepsakes is promoting our "Creativity Heals" campaign to encourage this healing. We invite you to share your creative talents, time, and extra scrapbook and craft supplies to help those in need. In each issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, we are spotlighting a different way to use your creative talents to help yourself or others who may be in need of healing.

Crops of Luv is a non-profit organization founded to create scrapbooks for children that have been granted a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona. Each year, over 200 wishes are granted to children with life threatening illnesses in Arizona. Crops of Luv collects and puts together memory books for these children and their families, who fill them with treasured photographs and stories. You can help these families remember their fun times by donating the following items to Crops of Luv:

* Scrapbooking supplies of all kinds including: adhesive, pop dots or glue dots, 12" x 12" cardstock (especially in primary and bright colors), Disney-themed paper, travel-themed paper (especially relating to plane trips), and 3-D embellishments (including cartoons and other child themes).

* 12" x 12" layouts that accommodate at least two 4" x 6" photos per page and journaling space.

* Blank or completed 12" x 12" post bound albums that are 20 pages total.

* Layouts or album with Disney, travel, family, or any inspirational themes.
