Want to create a darling crown like Davinie Fiero’s creation in the April 2009 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine? Here are her instructions:

1. Cut a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock in half to create two 6" x 12" pieces.

2. Using paper scraps, trim a circle approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. (Or, use a circle cutter or kitchen bowl for a different-sized circle.)

3. Using your circle template, trace the curves on the upper portion (long side) of each 6" x 12" piece of paper, creating half circles. Trim.

4. Attach/stitch the two pieces at one end so you have one long, continuous length of cardstock.

5. Adhere paper strips to the base of the crown. Stitch the top of the strips.

6. Create cupcake designs and adhere them to the crown base. Apply decorative jewels to the candles. (Or, dress up the crown with accents of your choosing, such as brads, charms, eyelets, stickers or rhinestones.)

7. Trim a pair of 2" circles for each point of the crown. Stitch the front circle, then attach it to the second circle over the end of each point to cover it up.

8. Holding the ends of the crown, adjust the long paper length to fit the child’s head. Trim off any extra paper and adhere or stitch the paper ends together.
