Accent Your Scrapbook Pages with Stars |
Looking for an accent to make your next layout a star in your scrapbook album? Turn to stars! This simple icon can be used in a variety of ways to add a splash of color, a celebratory feel, and even structure to your layouts. Here are a few star-studded layouts that are sure to inspire you to reach for the stars!
Ink Starbursts

"Birthday Buddy" by Jennifer McGuire, as seen in the January 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.
A quick pop of color can make any celebration feel more exciting, whether it's the bright glow of a candle before it's blown out or the flash of fireworks on New Year's Eve. With a quick burst of air from an airbrush tool, you can create lines of color that make fantastic starbursts. Adhere punched stars over the bursts for playful accents for your scrapbookpages.
Cookie Cutter Stars

"Lucky Stars" by Stacy Cohen, as seen in Scrapbooking Tips & Tricks: Tools & Techniques.
Use your cookie cutters to creawte dimensional star accents that are out of this world. Simply lay out your fabric, patterned paper, or transparency, and trace the cookie cutter. Or, for a variation, roll out some clay and cut it using your cookie cutter.
Quilted Star Background

"Giganto Present" by Pamela Young, as seen in the November/December 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.
Add a festive touch to any layout by creating a quilted star background for one page in a 2-page layout. The large star provides a great resting point for your viewer's eye as it moves across your layout. Plus, with all of the fun patterned papers available, you can make this accent for any scrapbook page you want to create, no matter the season.
Stitched Shooting Star

"Little Patriots" by Jana Morton, as seen in the July/August 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes.
Wish upon this digital shooting star idea next time you're creating a "you did it" layout or documenting a parade. With just a little digital stitching around the edges, and a long tail that serves as a page border, this homespun shooting star accent can make any page feel special without distracting from your photos. Want to create it using traditional supplies? Try cutting your stars and tail from felt to provide soft texture and enhance your homespun look.
