A New Style for a New Year: Artsy |
Scrapbook an Artsy Style
Give yourself permission to switch up your scrapbooking style this year with the ideas we're presenting in a year-long series of articles featured in Creating Keepsakes magazine. Try scrapbooking with an artsy look. To get started, check out Deena Wuest's graphic scrapbooking style, followed by her take on an artsy layout. She's included some of the challenges she faced, and offers some solutions on how to successfully scrapbook layout using an artsy approach.
Deena's Natural Style

"What's Cool" by Deena Wuest, as seen in the July/August 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes.
The challenge: Design a page using an artsy style.

Don't Smile by Deena Wuest. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Pink Paislee; Laser-cut paper: KI Memories; Die-cutting machine and dies: Sizzix; Chipboard: Close to My Heart; Stickers: American Crafts; Buttons: BasicGrey; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Digital Supplies: Software: Adobe; Patterned paper and frames: Katie Pertiet; Doodles: Jesse Edwards; Font: Pea Jenny.
Q. What were you afraid to try and why?
A. I was concerned about designing a layout without straight lines and equal margins. They are my foundation . . . my safe place. Creating a free-flowing design with clusters was something new for me.
Q. How did this new style help you tell your story?
A. I liked the playful and young feel this style brought to my layout. It creates a happy feeling which reinforces the story I wanted to document.
